Gum Disease May Increase Your Risk Of Cancer

November 28, 2017

According to a recent study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomakers & Prevention, women with gum disease are 14% more likely to develop cancer than those with good oral hygiene. Researchers found strong links between gum disease and esophageal cancer as well as lung, gallbladder, breast, and skin cancer.

There are numerous studies suggesting gum disease is associated with various other health concerns such as diabetes and heart disease. Therefore, it is very important to have good oral hygiene. Maintaining good oral health involves brushing and flossing after each meal and visiting the dentist to get a cleaning and check-up every 6 months.
